Patterson completes a very busy week

"Yes, Wake Forest just left, we were visiting with them tonight," said Tywanna Patterson. So goes the week of star power forward Patrick Patterson. After attempts to reach him came up short, the call from Patterson's mother was welcomed.

The Patterson family has been busy over the past week. They left for an official visit to the University of Florida on September 8th. The family returned home on September 10th and then all the in home visits began.

On Monday, Kentucky coach Tubby Smith and associate coach David Hobbs made an appearance at the Patterson home. Tuesday evening, Mike Krzyzewski and Duke made an appearance. After taking a break Wednesday, Wake Forest head man Skip Prosser spent Thursday evening with the Pattersons. Finally, on Friday Florida's Billy Donovan followed up Patrick's official visit with an in home visit.

Patrick spoke briefly about his last several days.

"It went well," said Patterson about his visit to Florida. Patterson talked about the atmosphere around the Florida basketball program. "I was impressed with the family they've got there with the team, the coaching staff, and how they eat dinner at coach Donovan's house," said Patterson. Did he learn anything new about Florida on his visit? "I pretty much knew everything about them when I got there," Patterson said.

Patterson also talked some about his visit with Mike Krzyzewski on Tuesday. "They brought papers with them, with stuff about Duke that I didn't know and we watched a DVD," said Patterson. "The visit with Coach K went real well," continued Patrick.

Tubby Smith's visit to the Patterson made a good impression on Patrick as well. "Their personalities (impressed me most), they are funny down to Earth guys, good people," Patterson stated. "We talked about me coming down for Midnight Madness," said Patterson. "It went pretty good."

Coach Smith also shared how he thought that Patrick would fit in on the team. "I would get time playing the four and at the three, handling the ball a little out on the court," said Patterson.

Up next for Patterson are visits from West Viriginia, Virginia, and then a visit to Duke on the last weekend of September. He'll follow up that visit to Lexington, for Kentucky's Midnight Madness on October 13th, along with friends Jai Lucas and AJ Stewart.
