ELDRIDGE: Gant, Barnes visit UK

Kentucky will host two 2007 forward prospects this weekend, when Darnell Gant and Chris Barnes make their way to the Commonwealth.

Gant, a 6-foot-8, 200 pound, combo forward from Los Angeles, California is making his third visit of the fall. He most recently visited Oregon on September 23rd. He also took a visit to Seattle to see the University of Washington on September 16th. Washington is the perceived leader for the lenthy Californian.

Gant's strength is facing the basket and taking the long range jump shot. He scored 15 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and dished out five assists a game for Crenshaw Senior High School.

On defense, his length and quickness allows him to defend small forwards, and his overall size allows him to defend the power forward position.

Gant is rated a three star prospect by scout.com.

Chris Barnes, a 6-foot-8 240 pound power forward, from Atlanta, Georgia will be taking his first look at the University of Kentucky this weekend. He has previously made stops at Wichita St on September 16th, and the University of Cincinnati on September 23rd. Barnes also has a visit to Florida scheduled for October 7th.

Barnes is a powerful rebounder who can score in the post. His wide body allows him to get post position, and then he uses his explosiveness to finish down low. Barnes is so powerful in the post, that his dunks and physical play has earned him the nickname, "Bam Bam."

Barnes is a three star prospect according to Scout.com.
