BREAKING NEWS: 'Cats Add Grayshirt Commitment

Kentucky has already received verbals from three in-state offensive lineman in Mt. Vernon's Brad Durham, Tompkinsville's Billy Joe Murphy and Bowling Green's Stuart Hines and have now added one for January of 2008.

On the eve of Signing Day 2007, the Wildcats have added its first grayshirt commitment for 2008, as Phillip Hibbard, a 6-foot-7, 275 pound offensive lineman from London (Ky.) South Laurel high school, agreed to sit out the fall semester and enroll at UK in January of 2008.

"Phillip has decided to sign with UK tomorrow," South Laurel coach Jason Chappell said. "The staff and coach Ortmayer has done a great job of establishing a relationship with Phillip from the start. They've been very upfront and honest with him from the beginning and I think that in the end, the home team won out."

Hibbard starred on both sides of the ball in 2006, playing nose guard and offensive tackle for South Laurel. He chose the Wildcats over Middle Tennessee, Troy, Eastern Kentucky, Western Kentucky and Florida.

"He went down to Troy and visited," Chappell confirmed. "Tony (Franklin)'s down there and thought Phillip would be great seeing that they run the same offense that we run, but they kind of came into the picture real late. I don't think he felt as strong about Troy, as he did Kentucky"
