A.J. Likes Gillispie Hire

Jacksonville (Fla.) Arlington Country Day power forward A.J. Stewart gives off the impression that he'd play for Kentucky if the university decided to re-locate to Alaska.

"I've always liked Kentucky and committed there because I wanted to go to Kentucky," Stewart said prior to a shoot around for the Derby Festival Classic. "It's like my high school coach told me. It's a business and sometimes these things happen, but when you sign, you are signing with the school, not the coach."

The 6-foot-7, 210 pound power forward was one of two that signed with the Wildcats in the fall after taking an official visit for Midnight Madness in October.

Prior to his trip into Lexington, the Scout.com four-star recruit was choosing between the likes of Illinois and Florida State before verballing to then-coach Tubby Smith.

"I like Coach Gillispie's style," Stewart explained. "It sounds like we're gonna be running more and I think that fits my game better. You know, he's an up and down coach."

The standout prospect scored 4 points in the All-Star game contest in helping lead his team to the victory in front of a reasonably large crowd at Freedom Hall this past weekend.

He nailed down a victory in the half-time slam dunk contest, however, scoring the only perfect score among his peers.
