NASHVILLE, TN JaMychal Green was among the most talented big men in attendance at the Nike Memorial Day Classic. The 6-foot-8 power forward led his team to the final eight and managed to turn heads doing so.
A standout at Montgomery (AL) St. Jude, Green is an athletic defensive presence that is becoming more and more a factor on the offensive end as well. He¹s developing post moves, snagging offensive rebounds and often times gets easy put backs.
Thus far Green is receiving attention from a bunch of schools in the South. He said the schools working him the hardest are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina and Marquette.
"I¹m still open," Green said. "I¹m trying to take all my visits. I plan on taking some this summer."
North Carolina and Kentucky have both entered the Green sweepstakes recently and he said he¹s still learning about each school. The Wildcats have made a move and might get him on campus in a few weeks.
"They offered me a scholarship. I don¹t know much about [Coach Billy Gillespie]. I plan on taking a visit down to Kentucky. Me and Andrew Steele might go down for an Elite camp."
Hailing from Alabama many think Green could be a lean to stay in the state and although he said he doesn¹t have any favorites he did indicate that he¹d like to stay close to home.
"It might," he responded when asked if distance would play a role in his decision. "I want to stay near home and I don¹t want to go too far out."
