'Cats in Top 5 for Elite '08 PF

Already sporting offers from three SEC schools to date, Savannah (Ga.) power forward Toby Veal is looking for more.

With offers in hand from LSU, Clemson, Tennessee, Auburn, Miami, Virginia Tech and Virginia Commonwealth, Savannah (Ga.) Johnson High School power forward Toby Veal continues to watch his stock rise as the AAU season progresses.

"Toby is a hard playing, super athletic player," Georgia Elite AAU coach Curtis Wheeler. " He runs and jumps with the best of them. He's also a great offensive rebounder, who can step out and shoot it."

Wheeler, who is a mainstay on the AAU basketball recruiting circuit as an AAU coach and mentor says his 6-foot-8, 210 pounder compares favorable to highly regarded forwards Romero Osby and Jamychal Green.

In addition to the schools that have offered, the 34th ranked small forward according to Scout.com is also receiving heavy interest from Florida State, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Colorado, Kentucky, Illinois, Kansas State, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

"Coach (Glynn) Cyprien is really recruiting Toby hard," Wheeler admitted. "Kentucky is in his top 5 right now. (Toby) loves speaking with Coach Cyprien. He does a great job of getting mail out to the kids about Kentucky."

Former Wildcat coach Tubby Smith has also dipped into the picture. "He called last night and Saul Smith has been calling the high school coach to speak with Toby for Minnesota."

A full qualifier, Veal is looking to make a fall decision.
