Walker makes UK-UL prediction

Former UK All American, and KSR columnist, Kenny Walker has experienced the hype and the fire of a Kentucky-Louisville rivalry first hand. Walker makes his prediction on the upcoming grid contest between the I64 rivals.

I don't know if the Kentucky-Louisville football rivalry can ever get to the level of the basketball rivalry because of the popularity of basketball in this state, but I do sense in the last five years that football is coming to the forefront in this state in high school and college. Louisville is an elite football program right now and Kentucky is trying to stop a long losing streak. I think it is an exciting time for Kentucky to try and climb that mountain to beat Louisville and for Louisville to try and continue to be a top 10 program. So that makes for a great rivalry.

I don't want to sound like a homer, but I do think everything finally is in place for Kentucky to get a win. I think both teams have scored a lot of points this year. I am a little bit encouraged by the fact that Louisville has not played well defensively this year after losing four guys off that defense to the NFL. It is hard to replace that type talent.

I am not saying Louisville will not be good on defense by the end of the year, but they are going through an adjustment period now and seeing what guys can do. If the Kentucky defense can slow down the Louisville offense, it could turn into a great game.

Since the game is being played in Commonwealth Stadium, I feel really good about the Cats and think Kentucky will win this year.
