Bowling Green (Ky.) tight end Ryan Wallace is heading to Lexington for a surprise visit tomorrow to watch the Wildcats practice and meet with the academic advisors and UK coaching staff before Kentucky, ranked no. 8 in the most recent national rankings, departs for its battle with SEC East foe and 11th-ranked South Carolina.

"I'm going up to UK in the morning," Wallace said. "I just kinda planned to go up there earlier, a couple weeks ago. We're on a fall break right now. I talked with Coach Phillips last night and we set up a time to go up there and meet with the advisors and the coaches."

Wallace recently took a visit out west to Colorado, who defeated visiting Oklahoma, Saturday. The Buffaloes appear to be heading in the right direction under second-year head coach Dan Hawkins.

"I'd say right now, Kentucky and Colorado are my top two," Wallace admitted. "I'm not ready to make a decision, yet. You never really know (about committing), because their is always that chance, but I'd like to at least wait until after these next 2 weeks. I'll know a lot more after this break because I'll visit a couple more other places."

Wallace broke down his two favorites.

Colorado: "I've really been attracted to the area and the landscape. I knew I wanted to take a visit out there from the start. On my visit, I really got along with the coaches and the players real well. I like their offense because it's a tight end friendly offense, for the most part. They throw the ball a lot."

Kentucky: "I kind of expected that they'd get off to a good start, with the momentum they had last year. I went up there for spring practice and I just saw that their players had a different attitude. They expect to win every game and you have to have confidence to be good in the SEC. Their next three games are gonna show a lot as far as how good that team can be."

Another plus with Kentucky is the friendships that Wallace has established with three of the better prospects in the state, who have suddenly been pushing the Wildcats.

"I've been talking a lot with guys like Dave Ulinski, Matt Smith and Winston Guy, since he's sort of opened himself up to Kentucky," Wallace said. "They are all trying to talk me into going up there and play with them at Kentucky. That's something that really helps Kentucky. The fact that I'm going to be able to know the guys that are going to be in my class, is important."

The fall break will give the 6-foot-6, 245 pounder the free time to see some additional schools on his list that maybe on the outside looking in right now.

"This Saturday, I'm going to Arkansas," Wallace said. "I talked to them in the summer, right before the contact period ended. I talked to their tight end coach that said they just wanted me to come visit, so they could see me up close."

"Next Friday and Saturday," Wallace said. "I've got an official visit to Stanford set up. From the start I knew I wanted to take an official visit to Stanford and Colorado. I wanted to get a look at the academics at Stanford. I've known Coach Harbaugh and his coaching staff for a long time, with their connections to Western Kentucky and all."
