Peach State WR Re-Schedules Visit

Kentucky Wildcat football recruiting update from Kentucky Sports Report's Rob Gidel

Corey Heard Profile

Atlanta (Ga.) Mays HS speedster Corey Heard was expected to take a trip to Lexington to see the Wildcats play against top ranked LSU. A last minute change of plans, however, caused him to stay home.

"I didn't make it up there this weekend," Heard said. "I re-scheduled it for this weekend. My coach and I are gonna go up there for the Florida game."

Asked if he got a chance to watch the LSU-Kentucky contest on television?

"Kentucky always impressses me," Heard said. "What they are doing is unbelievable."

The 6-foot-2, 185 pound wide receiver, who won the 110 meter dash in the Georgia High School ranks this past season, is looking to possibly make a decision on his trip.

"I could definitely see myself making a decision," Heard said. "If I like it, like I think I will, I could decide. Kentucky's been there from the beginning and I have liked them from the beginning."

Statistically Heard didn't get many opportunities to touch the pigskin in 2006, but despite only catching 15 balls for 12 touchdowns, Kentucky has made him a top priority in 2007.

"A lot of people have told me I have amazing speed," Heard said. "I just try to run away from everyone as fast as I can."

In mid-June, Heard shocked many when he clocked a 4.29-second 40-yard dash at a combine held at Georgia. He runs track for Mays, participating in the 110-meter high hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, and 1600-meter relay.

In addition to the Wildcats, Heard has offers from North Carolina, Stanford and Georgia Tech. The standout in the classroom, as well as the field, Heard sports a 3.5 GPA and wants to major in architecture.
