VAUGHT: How does Tamme top last year?

If you think it's going to be hard for Kentucky to have a better performance in the Music City Bowl than it did last year, just think how hard it is going to be for tight end Jacob Tamme to top what he did.

Tamme had four catches for 59 yards and a touchdown in the win over Clemson. Then the next day he proposed to his wife, Allison, to complete a memorable trip to Nashville.

So how does Tamme top that?

"I don't know how to top it. That is a great question," Tamme laughed and said. "It will be neat to go back because of everything that happened last year and to have a chance to go play another game against a ACC program like Florida State. It will be huge for our program to get a win, and a fun week for me and Allison, too."

Maybe it's the perfect way for Tamme to end his memorable career by returning to a place where he not only got to put a ring on his future wife's hand, but also helped restore credibility to UK's football program.

"Anytime if you play a team with a real national name, that obviously catches people's attention. They have won national championships at Florida State. That will be a neat experience because of they have a lot of tradition with coach (Bobby) Bowden and national championship rings. It will be a chance for us to put Kentucky out there one more time," Tamme said.

Don't worry about Tamme or UK's other seniors not being excited about the game. To them, it's every bit as important as last year's trip to Nashville.

"I think we have three more weeks of being a Kentucky Wildcat. Everyone on this team, including the juniors who will be coming back to lead this team next year, understands how huge this game is," Tamme said. "The senior class wants to go out on a high note. This is a big game for this program. I guarantee these seniors are going to put it out there one more time and lay it all on the line to try and get this eighth win."

Which, after all, would help make for another pretty memorable trip for Tamme and his wife — and thousands of UK fans.
