WALKER: Cats need more like Patterson

What does Billy Gillispie need to add to his recruiting class for next year to help Kentucky? Obviously, Darius Miller and DeAndre Liggins are committed to Kentucky and I think they will be good players, but if I am Billy Gillispie I am trying to find me one or two more players like Patrick Patterson.

That's where it is all at right now. Kentucky has some really good kids coming back with Meeks and Jasper and others that are 6-4 or 6-5. But the glaring weakness is finding Patrick Patterson some help inside. If I am recruiting, I am looking for that guy who is 6-8 or 6-9 and can be the final piece to help on a championship run.

It doesn't have to be a huge center. You can go the traditional center route, but you don't have to. Memphis is proving you don't have to have a 7-footer to player. If you have the size and strength that Patrick Patterson has, he can play the power forward or center fine, especially if you have some guys that can help him. Instead of playing a big guy who is limited, give me two or three like Patrick and you can win a championship.

It seems like a guy that size would see he could come here and play. The difficult thing right now is to talk about the struggles until we bring in some guys like that. Unless you are trying to win the 6-5 and under league, it's going to be hard. We have some great guys here, but if you are talking about winning championships and trying to get back to the Final Four, we have to get some bigger, longer, more athletic guys up front and guys that can play multiple positions.

That's what Kentucky has to find before next year.
