VAUGHT: Let's go cruising

If you are looking for a way to spend a few vacation days this summer, I have a suggestion. Try the Cats' Cruise on Carnival's Inspiration that will leave Tampa July 5 and return July 10. It will be your chance to join former UK standouts Mike Pratt, Kyle Macy, Sean Woods and our own Kenny Walker along with Mr. Wildcat, Bill Keightley, for some fun in the sun.

Tour organizer Eddie Own of Royal Travel Group has some exclusive offers for UK fans on this trip and plans to make sure each fan has plenty of opportunities to interact with the Kentucky legends on board.

I'm excited because he has asked me to join the event as a discussion moderator. I can't wait to have a chance to get Keightley talking about the coaches he's worked under or Macy describing that magical 1978 season or Walker talking about his time at UK. Then there is Pratt and his wonderful stories about Adolph Rupp. Or Woods and that unforgettable game with Duke. There will be autograph sessions, photo sessions, receptions, special contests and dining with the legends.

For a true blue fan, this should be a little piece of heaven considering what these legends have done:

Walker — He scored 2,080 points to rank second on UK's all-time list and was a four-time all-SEC pick and two-time All-American. He was the fifth choice overall in the 1986 draft.

Macy — He scored 1,411 points in a three-year career and became a fan favorite. Like Walker, he earned all-conference and All-American honors and was a first-round NBA draft pick. He's a former SEC Player of the Year and, like Walker, now does radio work in Lexington.

Pratt — He was on three SEC championship teams and twice earned all-SEC honors. He scored 1,359 points in three years and now works for the UK Radio Network.

Woods — He was one of "The Unforgettables" that helped revive the UK program under coach Rick Pitino.

Keightley — He's in his 45th year at UK and has now worked under six coaches. Keightley and Cawood Ledford are the only two non-players or coaches to have a jersey retired in their honor at Kentucky.

If you want more information, call 1-866-702-7775 or go to Imagine what a great time this could be for KSR members to interact with other Big Blue fans and former UK greats. I already know several fans planning to be on the cruise and hope a lot more KSR folks decide to get involved.

And if all goes well, I'll be able to provide some daily insights from the cruise when I have a chance to talk to these UK greats.
