"It's really funny now that I think about it," Bolser said by phone on Sunday night. "We went to Kentucky for a 7-on-7 and there was some sort of mix-up but we got to play. Just like what had happen at Louisville, we started playing and the Kentucky coaches started talking with my coach."
Just like he'd done the previous summer Bolser showed his ability to get open and make the easy and hard catches with opponents having problems staying with him. Then his recruiting took a new turn.
"I was totally surprised by being offered by Kentucky. I didn't expect it and in some way still don't believe it happened. I was overwhelmed by what I saw at Louisville as they have such nice facilities, but Kentucky really blew me away after getting a full tour. The indoor facility, trophy room, game room, weight room, just everything is top notch and second to none. Plus they play in the SEC, what more could you want?"
While Ted Bolser may not blow you away in a combine setting, he's always been a big-time playmaker for his coach Kevin Siple earning All-CHL First Team honors as a wide receiver during his sophomore and junior seasons. Bolser has shown he likes tough contact sports as he's also a midfielder for the schools Lacrosse team.
In fact it was Lacrosse that caused Bolser to not have a great day at a recent camp.
"I made the mistake of playing in six lacrosse games prior to going to a camp this week. That really caught up with me and I didn't perform the way I'm capable of doing. But I've never been the type of guy who does combine testing real good, but I love getting on the field and playing the game and love playing in 7-on-7 events."
We'll continue to follow Ted and his recruiting until he makes his college choice.
Ted Bolser brings size and physical abilities to the field. He won't blow you away in a combine but will make play after play in a game. Great hands with the ability to use his body to gain position makes Bolser a nice target for any quarterback and the knowledge of his lacrosse background allows you to know he's got some toughness to his game.
