"I camped at Kentucky a couple of weeks ago and then I went to Vanderbilt. I received offers from both of the programs and after thinking it over I knew Kentucky was the choice for me," Brian Adams said by phone on Wednesday night. "Coach Phillips was the first coach to come and see me and that meant a lot when it came time to make my decision."
While Adams may share the name of an 80's pop musician, his way of cutting like a knife is to tear up defenses by using his physical size and speed.
"I'm 6-foot-4, 211-pounds and have been timed at camps at 4.4 & 4.5 in the forty."
Adams is a high school quarterback for South Forsyth High School in Cumming, Georgia who will see a major change this season.
"We've been a Wing-T offense so I've been more of a running quarterback and not a passer. We now have a new coach who is putting in the spread offense and while I may be the quarterback we've got a really good young player who may take the position allowing me to move."
Adams said his offer was a total surprise and he'll always remember how it happened.
"When I was at camp Coach Brooks went over to my dad and started talking with him. Coach Brooks told my dad that he was going to offer me and that made me and my dad very happy."
Having visited during a Junior Day, Adams said Kentucky has everything he ever wanted in a college program.
"My dream has been to play in the SEC and two programs gave me that chance. Kentucky had everything I wanted as their coaches are great and the facilities are second to none. Kentucky just feels like home to me and that was very important when it came time give my commitment. I can't wait until I'm able to put that Blue and White jersey on."
We'll continue to check in with Brian as he enters his senior season and makes more trips to Lexington.
