Newton previously listed schools such as Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Florida, Clemson, South Carolina, Purdue and Miami as his suitors. According to Mr. Newton things haven't really changed. "He's been taking some close looks and trying to make sure he's got all the information and then maybe we'll cut some from the list. We're still getting some information," said Mr. Newton.
At this point, no new schools have gotten involved, although that hasn't stopped them from trying. "We still get a lot of mail from a lot of places, but as recruiting goes, I think they just keep sending stuff to see if they can get attention," said Mr. Newton.
Newton has already visited his favorites this summer. "He's been pretty excited about (his visits this summer)," said Newton. "It's kind of a fun thing. He's been enjoying visiting campuses and talking with various coaches," he finished.
Now that summer is close to the end, Newton has started practicing with his high school. "He has no other plans for the summer. School is next week," said Mr. Newton. "He's been concentrating on practice. They just started on Monday. It's been the two-a-days and practice camp," he continued.
With his visits finished and all the information gathered, Newton's decision should come sooner than later. "Timing is important. You want to make sure to let people know what's going on and hear it from him. I can tell you this; his decision won't go passed two or three games," said Mr. Newton.
Morgan Newton is a five-star quarterback and the number seven overall quarterback prospect according to Scout.com.
