Daniel Orton has been all around the country this summer. Playing throughout the summer on the AAU circuit can keep a young man very busy and the month of July was no different. In the past two weeks, Orton has been to Connecticut for UCONN's Elite Camp, Lexington for Kentucky's second Elite Camp, and Oregon for the Nike Global Challenge.
Orton had already been to Lexington in early June for Kentucky's first Elite camp although he was unable to participate due to injury. This time around Daniel celebrated his birthday in Lexington for UK's second Elite Camp. He managed to stay a couple of days in Lexington, playing pick-up games with the current Wildcat players, and hanging out the most with Patrick Patterson.
"It went real good. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the facilities." Daniel admits he has a pretty good relationship with the UK staff and obviously the coaching staff has made him a priority as he says two UK coaches are heading his recruitment. "I talk with both Coach Gillispie and Coach Cyprien the most."
Orton has an impressive list that includes, in no specific order: Kentucky, Kansas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, and Oklahoma State. He hasn't scheduled any official visits right now, but he plans to start doing so pretty soon.
"I plan on taking all of my visits and I'm going to sit down with my family and talk about when I'll do that. I'll probably make a decision in the late signing period."
Daniel Orton is rated as a five-star Center ranked as the 10th best prospect overall in the class of 2009.
