Simpkins is being recruited by most universities as a defensive end, however he's been playing another position in high school. "Well, I'm playing defensive tackle right now, but I'm being recruited as a defensive end," he said. "It'll be a little different to be a defensive end on the next level," Simpkins said. "I use my speed to my advantage and I get low and use what the coaches teach me," he said. "I watch a lot of game film. Basically I want to improve my overall game," he finished.
So what schools are recruiting Clinton? "I don't have a top list or anything right now. I'm just preparing for my senior year in high school," he said. Ironically, Simpkins was making some interesting plans for the future. "I planned on calling coach (Rick) Petrie in a little while and scheduling an official visit with them," he said.
"I've visited three of the four schools that have offered me. Kentucky is the only one I haven't been to," he said. Simpkins holds offers from West Virginia, East Carolina and North Carolina State, along with Kentucky.
Simpkins does have a bit of an idea about when he'll be making his decision. "I'm thinking more towards the middle or the end of my football season.
The 6-foot-3 215 pounder gathered 113 tackles last season for Chancellor High School in Fredricksburg (Va.) as a junior. Simpkins is a three-star prospect and the number 81 defensive end according to Scout.com
