The 6-foot-5 220 pounder is among the hottest tight end prospects in Georgia and for good reason. "He's a very athletic tight end that also is a pretty physical blocker. That makes him unique. Most of the guys are blockers and don't catch well or they are receivers and don't block well. But he can do both," said coach Hockman. "He just needs to work on staying a little low. He also needs to work on getting off jams when they try to hold him up," he continued.
Mitchell is a highly recruited player, holding several offers. "There's probably 15 or 20 offers from schools," said Mitchell. Among those offers are West Virginia, Kentucky, Clemson, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Central Florida. "He's taking an official up to West Virginia. He's going to Georgia on an official. LSU and Georgia haven't offere yet," said Hockman.
What about the Wildcats? "Kentucky offered him. They've been calling. I haven't spoken with them much recently. Joker Phillips has been recruiting him pretty hard," said Hockman.
Mitchell has been on a few campuses. "He's going to Georgia on another unofficial. He went to LSU and Georgia. I think he went to Kentucky this summer," said Hockman.
Mitchell hasn't made any plans to make a decision yet. "He's kind of hoping to do well on the SAT in October and get more offers," said Hockman. "It could happen sooner than that. I wouldn't be surprised if he waited until after the season. We just want him to see enough places," said Hockman.
