With a need at corner for the Wildcats, Rich Brooks is turning over every stone to find a talented replacement for departed corners. Michael Venson of Morton Ranch High in Katy (Tx.) is one such player. "I make plays," said Venson. "I mean, I really just make plays. I can make things happen when things mess up and make a big play," he said.
Venson has been playing running back and gained over 500 yards and seven touchdowns in only four games. Even with those impressive numbers at running back, he's willing to make a position change at the next level. "At the next level, it doesn't matter where I play. I would like to play corner, receiver or running back," said Venson.
"I really physically want to get stronger this summer. I want to get a little more size for the next level," said Venson.
Venson's receiving attention from many schools. "I like Texas Christian, Kentucky, North Texas, New Mexico, UTEP," said Venson. "I also like Nebraska, Missouri and Texas Tech," he said. "I really like TCU a lot. TCU is probably at the top of my list right now," he said.
"I really want to wait and make my decision after the season," said Venson. "I just want to pick from about five or six schools," he said.
And what factors will play into his choices? "The tradition and I just really want to have a good relationship with the coaches," Venson said. "Most likely, I won't be in this area (Houston); I feel like the relationship with the coach wil a big thing. I'm not worried about playing time. I can earn playing time," Venson finished.
