If Guy Morriss is offered the head job at Baylor
take the money and go back home to Texas?
As of now it appears the assistants are not aware of any decision Guy may have or will make.
But if Morriss does take the million and moves to Waco, Mitch Barnhart may have a plan.
|Walt Harris of the Pitt Panthers
has done an excellent job. the Panthers have been in 3 bowls the last 5
years, they also recruit very well. Pitt was very close to beating Miami, also
lost to Notre Dame, West Virginia and Texas A&M in going 8-4 while beating Va Tech on their home turf. Why Harris? Well he was an assistant coach at UT when Barnhart was an Asst. AD.
||Jim Leavitt of the South Florida Bulls, 9-2 this year, has come out of no where to really get
some national attention. Leavitt also orchestrated the excelleent defense
at Kansas State with Bob Stoops. Leavitt recruits the fertile recruiting fields
of Florida very well.
No matter what happens it looks as though Cat fans will be just fine. Guy has done a wonderful job this past season and is poised to improve in 2003, despite scholarship reductions, however 2004 and 2005 are big question marks with the NCAA penalties.
The presumably top two candidates to replace Morris if in fact he does leave (can he turn down a 1/2 million dollar raise?) are very qualified and should have fans equally excited.
This may be the first of many coaching changes our new AD may be presented with in the next twelve months, no doubt he is ready for the challenge.
