With Kentucky's need of playmakers very evident, the Wildcats have continued to recruit the wide receiver position. One of the players receiving interest and an offer from Kentucky is Xavier Reese.

Standing 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, Florida receiver Xavier Reese has the size wanted in a wide receiver. He also runs the 40 in 4.55 seconds. But his game is more than just size and speed. "I'm very physical at the line of scrimmage. I've got good speed. I'm a punishing blocker," said Reese. "I can go over defenders on the jump ball and I also run good routes," said Reese. Reese also sees points that he needs to improve in his game. "I want to get bigger and faster. But that goes for every player," said Reese.

Kentucky definitely likes what they've seen from Reese, enough to offer a scholarship. Is Kentucky still heavily involved? "Right now I'm hearing from Purdue, Louisville, Minnesota, Kansas State and Michigan State," he said. "I haven't heard from Kentucky as much recently," said Reese. "Coach (Rick) Petrie wanted me to get my game film to them so he can show coach Brooks," said Reese.

The tape that Reese sends in will surely show many highlights as Reese averaged more than 15 yards per reception on 35 catches this season. Reese also scored eight touchdowns for Northeast High School in Oakland Park (Fl.).

"I played exceptionally well, with the quarterback we've got. He's an option quarterback and I still finished third in the county in receiving yards," said Reese.

Reese has had an opportunity to visit only one of the schools on his list. "I took a visit to Purdue on October 26th. I'm trying to set up more visits soon," he said. "It'll be in December or January when the students come back from break," he finished.

Reese has no specific time that he plans on committing, but he does believe it'll be closer to signing day. He does have a feel for what he's looking for, though.

"I want a sense of stability, and then academics are important too. I'm looking for a place where I feel like home and a place where I can get some playing time early on," he said.

So what are Reese's thoughts on the Wildcats?

"Kentucky is a good school. They're having a decent year this year in the SEC. It seems like their offense is a little stagnant. But I can see where a playmaker like myself could fit in," said Reese.
