Tyler Down to Three

After losing David Sims to Georgia Tech, there has been a bit of a scramble to find prospects to fill the hole at running back. A player who may take that role is Indiana athlete Dakotah Tyler.

Dakotah Tyler led Pike High School (In.) to a seven and three record this season, while breaking the school record for points in a season (104 points scored). "The first seven games, I played quarterback. The last three, I played running back," said Tyler.

"I really think I have a good combination of speed and power. I'm big and strong, but I'm really fast," said Tyler. "I want to get better at everything; anthing that can make me a better running back," said Tyler.

Tyler lists Kentucky, Indiana and Purdue as his leaders. All three schools have offered him a scholarship as a running back.

"I've visited Purdue and Indiana already," said Dakotah. Tyler visited Kentucky this weekend as his final visit.

"I liked (the Kentucky visit) a lot," said Tyler. "It as fun. They have good social life and a nice campus there. They had good facilities. It's the SEC and they have good coaches," said Tyler.

There may be another added incentive for Tyler to come to Kentucky. Tyler has a prior relationship with five-star quarterback Morgan Newton. "I talked to him a little bit about why he chose Kentucky," said Tyler. "It may influence me a little, but mostly it's just like an added bonus if I decide to go there," said Tyler.

So what is Tyler looking for in the school he chooses to attend? "I think about what's the best position I can put myself into to be the best player I can be," said Tyler. "I want to help elevate a program and build a program, to contribute to a program," he continued.

Tyler plans to make his decision within the next week or two, deciding between his home state Hoosiers and Boilermakers or the Kentucky Wildcats.
