After Tennessee's former coach Phil Fulmer stepped down, Toney Williams decided to rethink his decision to attend Tennessee. Kentucky was one program that showed Williams a lot of interest and Williams chose to check out the Wildcats. "I had a good time. It was fun," said Williams.
Williams was hosted by junior linebacker Micah Johnson and he got an opportunity to spend time with a few of the coaches. "I talked to the running backs coach (Larry Brinson) and coach Phillips and coach Brooks. I have a chacne to come in and play right away if I earn it," said Williams.
So did Kentucky make up ground on Tennessee for his services? "A little bit, but I still really don't know," said Williams.
Toney will be taking his final visit to Tennessee this weekend. After that, a decision could be forthcoming. "I am just going up to Knoxville and trying to have a good time when I go. I don't have expectations," said Williams. "I don't know (when I'll make my decision). Maybe sometime this week. Possibly once I get to Knoxville," said Williams.
The coach that Tennessee chose played a big part in whether Williams would have considered them any further. Williams approved of the hire of Lane Kiffin.
"I like him a lot. He's really honest and straight forward. He's the kind of coach that pushes you to work really hard," said Williams.
