Miss States' Rick Stansbury on Calipari

Mississippi State coach Rick Stansbury, a Kentucky native, says anyone who doubts Calipari's ability or questions his record because he was at Memphis, a Conference USA school, the last nine years is foolish.

Mississippi State coach Rick Stansbury, a Kentucky native, says anyone who doubts Calipari's ability or questions his record because he was at Memphis, a Conference USA school, the last nine years is foolish.

"I don't care what conference you are in when you do what he has done. You are the Super Bowl for everybody on the schedule and to be able to go on the road and win and get Memphis to the level he has is incredible. He has done a tremendous job recruiting and coaching. It is obvious he will be another good coach in our league," Stansbury said. "Our league (Southeastern Conference) is as good as anyone in the country. I know we were down some this past year, but we had back to back national championship teams out of this league just a few years ago. The SEC is full of good coaches. He is going to be another good coach in a good league."

Stansbury thinks Calipari, who took Massachusetts to the Final Four in 1996 and Memphis to the title game in 2008, will have no problems adjusting to the limelight at Kentucky. "There's no question he is a great coach. Cal will be a great fit there. He is a guy that has had success. Expectations won't affect him in any way. He is a great hire for Kentucky. They got the guy they wanted and needed," Stansbury said.
