Kentucky signee Jon Hood reportedly did a little recruiting. Hood told sources he spoke to Daniel Orton about coming to Kentucky. They are roommates at the Kentucky Derby Festival Classic, held Saturday at Freedom Hall in Louisville Hood told columnist Jerry Tipton: ""I think he's coming," said Hood, the Madisonville native, reigning Kentucky Mr. Basketball and Orton's roommate here. "I'm not sure about it. I could be wrong. I could be right. I think I'm right." Orton has committed to UK but some sources believed him to be reconsidering when Gillispie left and the Cats gained a commitment from DeMarcus Cousins.
Larry Vaught spoke to Orton's father, however and has this reassuring message to UK fans: "Talked to larry Orton a few minutes ago. All is going well. Told me Daniel was still a Cat and he should see me in a couple of weeks when he is back here unless something totally unexpected happens. Didn't press him for details since he called me for a different reason, but apparently all is going well on their visit to the Bluegrass."
