Vaught on Patterson and Meeks

Believe it or not if the NBA feedback I hear is true, we are more likely to see Meeks jump than Pat.

This may be contrary to what many are saying, but here is what I have come across from folks who are watching the draft prospects pretty close.

First, although everyone thinks/knows that Meeks needs to stay another year, from a draft standpoint he may be the one player who has to make the move if possible. Meeks stock will not get any higher than what it rose to this past season. With the influx of talent brought in by Cal, Meeks will likely not get the 54 point exposure he got last season. The NBA guys think he can score the ball and anything that he does to diminish that rep next year hurts his status. He has weaknesses that need to be sured up, but his rep as a scorer could be hurt. And as Cal said, NBA guys don't forget impressions.

As for Patterson, he measured out at 6'7 1/2". He does not have the size to play the 4 and does not have the handles or shot to play the 3. He is a classic tweener and he is not nearly as marketable as many want to believe. I am also hearing that the NBA guys are a little worried about the nagging injury issue.

Believe it or not if the NBA feedback I hear is true, we are more likely to see Meeks jump than Pat. In my mind, I think they both stay because Meeks is likely second round anyway....
