Wildcats Work To Impress Simpson

As the University of Kentucky looks to kick start their recruiting efforts for the Class of 2010 one player that came away from Saturday's spring game impressed was Miles Simpson. KSR gets the latest.

As one of the top prospects in the Commonwealth of Kentucky for the Class of 2010 you would hope the home state product would be impressed by what he saw on a visit. But Miles Simpson was more than impressed as he came away with a greater feeling for what the program has to offer.

"It was great to get out on the field and get a feeling for what it could be like if I went to Kentucky."

While Simpson didn't arrive when he wanted to due to a prior engagement he still saw a lot.

"My plan was to go down for the pregame meal but I had a fund raiser at my high school that I'd committed to for my team so I couldn't go down early. But I got there in enough time to go on the field and talk to all the coaches."

The Wildcats staff did there best to make sure Simpson knows how important he is to their future.

"I spoke some with Coach (Joker) Phillips and also to Coach Brooks. But I spent a lot of time with Coach (Chuck) Smith and we talked about how he was trying to get me to be a Wildcat. We also spoke about how I'd fit into their offense and I came away with an idea of what I'd be doing if I were to go there."

One thing that did stick into Simpson's mind was the weather.

"It was hot down there on Saturday but it was a lot of fun."

Simpson who had visited during the Georgia game saw the difference on this trip.

"When I went down for the Georgia game I got to see some things but this was really different as I got to really get a feel for the field and the crowd."

One thing is for sure and that is Simpson plans a return trip.

"I want to get down there and really look more at the campus so I can get more of a feel for it. All I've really seen so far is the football side of things and I'm impressed. But there is more to this than just football and I really want to see it as well."

While Simpson isn't sure of when he'll make his college choice he's sure of one thing.

"I really want to look at all the programs that have shown interest and see what is best for me."

Kentucky Sports Report will continue to follow up with Miles in the coming weeks.
