"I hear people say that he is better than I thought he was and things like that. I don't pay that much attention." Pilgrim laughed and said. "I have seen people get hyped up with all the glitz and glamour when they come in and then I have seen them fail, too. I don't want to be that dude.
"I try to be outgoing all the time. I am not overwhelmed by much. This is something I want here, so I am going to go get it. I am not going to fail."
Recruit Vinny Zollo, a sophomore at George Rogers Clark in Winchester (Ky.) who has verbally committed to UK, got to see a pickup game with Pilgrim. He came away impressed and almost in awe of his skills.
"I heard a good deal about Pilgrim since he is from Cincinnati," Zollo, who moved from Ohio to Winchester this summer, said. "Once he came to Kentucky, I heard all this hype about him. But he's really a great player. He has a real high basketball IQ. He's big and strong. I think he'll be extremely good and be a teammate anyone would want to have."
