John Calipari Impressions, PART TWO

The bottom line is Calipari has a proven system. He's spent a lot of time recruiting highly touted guys, has reeled them in and sent them to the league. Ultimately that's the main goal for these kids and he's proven that he's successful.

Ultimately that's the main goal for these kids and he's proven that he's successful. He also surrounds himself with a great staff," Scout.com recruiting analyst Evan Daniels said.

"Long term there is a lot of potential for Calipari to do similar things at Kentucky that he did at Memphis. Wherever Calipari is, he's going to get players. He's got a proven track record and he's a talented recruiter that is at the top of his game right now.

"Calipari and Kentucky together could be dangerous combination. We are talking about one of the premiere coaches in the game at one of the premiere basketball programs. What's not to like about that tandem?"

From former UK player Derrick Hord's perspective, there's nothing not to like about having Calipari at Kentucky.

"He has demonstrated an ability to get to the dance (NCAA Tournament) with fewer resources than we have at Kentucky. I believe the time frame to contend nationally is now, not two or three years away like it was going to have been at best," former UK player Derrick Hord said.

"He is a great fit at Kentucky, must more so than the previous coach. That's not knocking Billy Gillispie, but he just never seemed to get the position he held. Calipari appears to understand just by virtue of his comments during his first press conference and since then with the contacts he has reached out to and purposeful meetings he has had ."
