Seriously, there's nothing I enjoy more than the convention put on by Jim Porter that is coming up July 18 in Middletown, Ohio.
I'm lucky enough to be on the program again along with UK recruiting coordinator/linebacker coach Chuck Smith and TV/radio personality Ryan Lemond. We are first on the program and get to entertain the crowd with a radio talk show format that gives Smith plenty of opportunities to share information with the crowd that normally ranges from 100 to 130 Big Blue fans.
Also on the program this year will be former UK basketball players Mike Pratt and Larry Stamper along with The Cats' Pause general manager Darrell Bird. Pratt certainly will be a big hit since he was an unofficial member of the search committee that lured John Calipari to Kentucky and Stamper certainly will be able to share some insightful Adolph Rupp/Joe Hall stories.
This is the 20th anniversary of the convention and it's not to late for you to plan to attend. Middletown is only 120 miles from Lexington and 130 from Louisville. If you come, you won't regret it.
Registration is only $20 and includes awards and door prizes. For information contact Charlie Combs (937-746-0697 or firstname.lastname@example.org), David Starkey (937-746-1866) or Mike Johnson (937-746-4115 or email@example.com). Porter can be reached at 937-746-8758.
