Crawford likes Evans

Mark Crawford really doesn't know how hard it will be for junior college receiver Chris Matthews to learn Kentucky's playbook. However, he does have a good idea what junior college defensive end DeQuin Evans is facing.

Crawford, a defensive tackle, is also a junior college product. However, he arrived at UK for the second semester and got to go through spring practice while Matthews and Evans didn't come from California until this summer.

"DeQuin is kind of where I was at first not knowing the plays or where to be. I know once he gets the plays down, his technique is great and he will be a force to be reckoned with. The sooner he gets the plays down, the better it will be for our team," Crawford said. "He is just a monster out there on the field. You have to see him play to believe him.

"He is a great guy, too. He doesn't say too much, but he is a great football player with great football knowledge. He is fast, strong. A lot of guys may look at him as a tiny guy at DE, but when that ball is snapped he is around that (offensive) tackle and has great strength. He is great guy and great player who will help us a lot."
