Averaging almost 30 points per game as a junior, you'd think Tobias Harris's stock was pretty high. However, with his effort during the summer months, Harris has become one of the highest rated prospects in the country. "I think I did really well (on the AAU circuit)," said Harris. "I improved everything in my game. I concentrated on being more versatile," Harris finished.
There's a lot to like about Tobias's game. At 6-foot-8, 215 pounds he's capable of playing outside and inside. "I'm able to shoot from the outside. I handle the ball like a guard and pass like a guard. I rebound the ball well. I just need to work on my defense," said Harris.
Harris has received scholarship offers from schools all over the country, including Kentucky. Kentucky will be making an in-home visit with Harris on September 9th. Many other schools are in pursuit as well. Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Connecticut, Louisville, Tennessee Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Maryland have all set up in-home visits with the Long Island prospect.
Many have speculated that Kentucky is among the top choices for Harris, however he declined to name any favorites. Still, Harris spoke about his unofficial visit to Kentucky just a few weeks ago.
"It went well. Everything went pretty good. I like the fans support that they have," he said. "I like the style of play, the offense and coach Calipari."
In the end a few factors will make individual schools stand out from the pack for Harris. "A good coaching staff, good academics. I'm looking for a school that will prepare me for what I have to do next."
Tobias Harris is a four-star prospect and the number six power forward in the nation according to Scout.com.
