Men O' War Announcement

The Lexington Men O' War hockey team has announced a ticket pledge campaign.

Lexington, KY - Lexington Men O' War G.M. of Business Operations Tim Woodburn today announced a "Ticket Pledge Renewal Campaign" for the 2003-04 season.

The Men O' War face an existing deadline of March 1st to secure the equivalency of 1,200 season tickets. Support from individual fans and companies in the community can be in the form of a season ticket, a partial season ticket or a company's willingness to have a group night at Rupp Arena.  Ticket prices have been lowered and there is no money due until July 1st, but the pledges are needed by March 1st.

"This organization was constructed and launched last summer in 86 days, yet we were still able to sell the equivalency of 700 season tickets in that time period," said Woodburn.  "I have had discussions with Rupp Arena and our majority owner, Michel Cadrin, with regard to a reasonable goal and deadline, and we have agreed in unison on the number of 1,200."

The Men O' War, the AA affiliate of the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars, are a first-year team in the East Coast Hockey League. The Men O' War have posted a record of 19-17-5, including a 12-7-3 mark in Rupp Arena.

"It's important for the community to recognize what professional hockey adds to the quality of life in Central Kentucky," said Woodburn. "Our players have visited and read books to over 6,000 young school children in Central Kentucky. We have donated tickets to over 100 charities in the Bluegrass. Twice a year, the Men O' War provide over 25,000 tickets to "superior students" in Fayette and surrounding counties for academic excellence. Many charitable organizations, such as the Hospice Center and Arthritis Foundation, participate in the Men O' War fund raising program," said Woodburn.

Lexington Men O' War hockey places 40 events in Rupp Arena every calendar year, and Provides an estimated economic impact of three million dollars to Fayette County.
