Sophomore linebacker Danny Trevathan had five tackles against Miami despite playing with a cast on his wrist to protect a fractured bone.

He'll have surgery on the wrist to have a pin inserted to help with the healing process. "He'll have no contact this week and play with a cast on (against Louisville)," Brooks said.

Cornerback Cartier Rice did not make the trip to Cincinnati Saturday because of a hip flexor problem. "It was a little more severe than he though. We hope he's back next Sunday," Brooks said.

Receiver Gene McCaskill came out of Saturday's game with an infected toe and may have to have a toe nail removed ... Fullback John Conner didn't play against Miami because of his sprained ankle and Brooks hopes he can start practicing again Sunday. ... Linebacker Micah Johnson played the first half against Miami and had no problems with his sprained foot ... Center Marcus Davis will have surgery on his broken ankle. "The very best chance is he'll be back for a bowl game if we achieve that," Brooks said.
