John Calipari received his first commitment of the 2010 class today when Stacey Poole of Jacksonville Florida cast his lot with the Wildcats.

On ESPNU today at 5:30 eastern, Poole appeared live to make his decision to become a Wildcat known. Yesterday Poole told Evan Daniels of Scout "the phone has been ringing off the hook today. People have been calling and calling," he said.

Poole originally considered the threesome of Kentucky, South Carolina and Clemson, but he decided to cut the Tigers from his list and concentrate on the Wildcats and Gamecocks.

"I was getting a feel for everything and I meet with the coaching staff," Poole said to Daniels after his Kentucky visit. "I really didn't spend much time with Coach Cal, because he wanted me to spend time with the players becasue that's who I'm going to be playing with. Everythign was good. The players showed me and Brandon (Knight) a good time so I enjoyed it. It was fun."

He also spoke highly of Darrin Horn.

"Coach Horn is energetic and young," he said. "He loves it. He's building South Carolina. That school was one of the best in SEC last year. I enjoy watching them play and watching him coach. South Carolina has been there from day one."

Poole is rated as the number 58 player in the nation according to Scout. As a junior, he averaged 26 points, 10 rebounds and five assists a game.

"Me and my dad were up last night talking about everything and I made my decision and I'm playing for the University of Kentucky," said Poole on ESPNU.

"Coach Calipari has history," said Poole. "He wins and he enjoys what he does and I feel that he'll put me in the best situation possible."
