Kentucky slams Campbellsville 74-38

LEXINGTON, Ky. - It was only an exhibition game, but Coach Calipari's heralded recruiting class--even without # 1 recruit John Wall--served notice that it would be a force to be reckoned with. Newcomers Darnell Dodson (19 points) and Demarcus Cousins (11 points) led a balanced attack in the victory.

Only three Wildcats reached double figures in the win, with senior Perry Stevenson matching the 11 points scored by Cousins. Preseason All-American Patrick Patterson was held to just four points on 2-7 shooting (0-2 from 3-pt range). John Wall was sitting out an NCAA-mandated suspension of this exhibition game. Wall will also have to sit out the Wildcat opener against Morehead State.

Eight Wildcats played double digit minutes, with Josh Harrellson adding nine minutes on the night in a balanced attack. Newcomer Daniel Orton led the Cats with seven boards, and Cousins and Dodson chipped in with six each.

Despite a sloppy game in which Kentucky turned the ball over 23 times, the Cats raced to a 36-11 halftime bulge, and the game was never in doubt.
