He was a big kid in high school and probably could cruise a little bit like a lot of star players could. I think having a guy like Patrick Patterson to practice against daily and the way he approaches the game and the work he puts in will be a big influence on Cousins.
People talk about Wall, Bledsoe and other guys, but if Cousins puts it together he is probably the best NBA prospect because of his size and shooting touch. I like his overall skill level and being that he is such a big, strong body, he needs to get in their and mix it up regularly and help Patterson underneath. From what I have seen of him in practice and pickup games, he tends to drift outside a little bit. That is fine because he can do it, but he has to learn to be the guy inside.
I talked to coach Calipari after a recent practice and I think they are making an emphasis on him to play hard and have that carry over to games. He has the body, he has the shooting touch, he has the mindset when he wants to be dominant. He just has to approach every single practice and every single play that way and if he does, this kid is going to be even more special than some people think. I just really like what I think he can do.
