Ronnie Shields is one of three players from Stephenson High that has made his pledge to play at Kentucky. At 6-foot-5, 220-pounds, Shields has good size for his position, but is also versatile enough to move around the offense a little. "They want to try me at tight end first, but they'll use me at both," said Shields.
Shields and teammate and fellow commit Jabari Johnson made the trip to Kentucky for the game against Eastern Kentucky and came away impressed. "It was nice," said Shields. "They have nice facilities. They have great fans. They really make you feel like family," said Shields.
"They just made me feel welcomed. They have a great offense and that's something I want to be a part of. And they have two of my teammates going there," he finished.
Shields chose Kentucky over Louisville, Florida International, Marshall and Florida Atlantic. Since his commitment, he's stayed in constant contact with the staff. "I talk to them about every other day. They talk about how they want to use me," he said.
"I'm a great blocker. I'm also a great receiver," Shields started. "I always finish every play. And I'm just a play-maker," he finished.
Shields has helped Stephenson High (Ga.) to a 10-0 record this season and a berth in the playoffs. The Jaguars will be taking on Bradwell High on Friday evening.
