Bowl or Bust? Kentucky v Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE - The Kentucky Wildcats arrive in Nashville at 5-4 (1-4), needing one win in their final three outings to secure bowl eligibility. After today, they travel to Athens (Ga.) to face the talented Georgia Bulldogs, and return home to battle a rejuvenated Tennessee Volunteer squad that Kentucky has not defeated in more than two decades. It may be Bowl or Bust today for the Cats.

Vanderbilt has already been eliminated from bowl eligibility, and has nothing to play for but pride. Yet the Wildcats are only a 3-point favorite over the Commodores, according to the smart guys in Las Vegas. Why?

Well, it may be as simple as this. Kentucky has not shown that they can stop a running game, Vanderbilt has a pretty good one, it's a road game, and Kentucky's quarterback situation is still "iffy."

Speaking of quarterbacks, today will see the return of fourth year junior quarterback Mike Hartline, who has been out several weeks due to a torn MCL. Hartline was Kentucky's returning starting quarterback this season, and in his absence true freshman Morgan Newton has principally performed the role of quarterbacking the Wildcats. Both quarterbacks are expected to play today.

Kickoff is at 11:21 a.m. CT.
