Cats face Butler in Memorial

LEXINGTON, Ky. - After an opening day win on Friday, the UK Hoops manage a quick turnaround and face Butler today in Memorial for a quick two-game homestand. The Cats smashed Boston University by 34 in the opening outing. The game will be broadcast live on the Big Blue Sports Network (radio and TV) and Fox Sports South and is set to tip-off at 1. p.m. EST.

"We have a quick turnaround here in that we have just one day to prepare for Butler," UK Hoops Coach Matthew Mitchell said. "I thought we played with a lot of passion and intensity on Friday and I hope we can carry that tempo into Sunday's game. We still have a lot of things to improve on and we need to be mentally focused for a tough Butler team. They return three of their starters from a good team last year and they will come in here ready to play."

Butler, located in Indianapolis, Ind., opens its season in Memorial after a 78-47 win over DePauw in its only exhibition game. Four starters return, including leading scorer Brittany Bowen, from last season's squad that finished 20-12 and advanced to the second round of the WNIT.

This is just the fourth meeting between the programs in school history and the first since 2004. That year, UK defeated the Bulldogs 82-44 in Memorial Coliseum on Nov. 19. Kentucky is 3-0 all-time vs. Butler and 13-0 against teams from BU's Horizon League.
