UK seniors have made history

While it is easy to get down on the Wildcats for losing some games they could have won this season, one must also take time to reflect on what the Kentucky seniors have accomplished in the last four seasons.

The seniors on Kentucky's football team are down to one last opponent to prepare for during their Kentucky careers. That opponent, yet to be officially determined, will mark the fourth consecutive postseason appearance for the Kentucky Wildcats.

Kentucky fans owe players like Trevard Lindley, Micah Johnson, Corey Peters, Sam Maxwell, Zipp Duncan, Justin Jeffries, Christian Johnson, John Conner and so many others a debt of gratitude. These players came to Kentucky when Kentucky was very down, and changed the direction of the program.

The senior class has a very impressive list of accomplishments; many of which are unprecedented in the history of Kentucky football:

-Four consecutive winning seasons
-At least seven wins in four consecutive seasons, first time since 1909-12
-Three straight bowl championships, first time ever; and an opportunity to add one more to that record
-Wins over two top-10 ranked opponents
-18 straight non-conference wins, longest streak in school history
-12 wins coming from behind in the fourth quarter

Here is a complete list of players who went through Senior Day on Saturday, many of whom made an indelible mark on Kentucky football history.
