DeCourcy on Wall

DeCourcy: "It's not that unusual for me to do that. When I see greatness, I'm not afraid to get behind it. I did it with Greg Oden when he was a 10th grader. I did it with Derrick Rose two years ago, when I saw him play against UConn on TV."

I asked Mike if it was a little unusual for him to climb out on a limb so quick like he did by calling Wall the greatest point guard athlete ever. Thought you might like to see his response.

Pretty strong words I think you will like:

"It's not that unusual for me to do that. When I see greatness, I'm not afraid to get behind it. I did it with Greg Oden when he was a 10th grader. I did it with Derrick Rose two years ago, when I saw him play against UConn on TV. I'd seen Rose play on a high school court and was impressed, but I was blown away when I saw what a difference he could make on a full-sized floor. I expected something similar upon first seeing Wall in person in a UK uniform, but he exceeded those expectations.

I know one web site headline out there suggested I'd declared something along the lines of "best college point guard." I'm not saying that. For John to be the best college point guard, he'd have to stay longer at UK than one year, and I'm sure that won't happen. I was referring strictly to the level of athleticism he brings to the position, and I'm not restricting that to college. I'm talking about anyone who's played; John is a more dynamic athlete than the best of them: Rose, Kidd, whomever."
