Dawson, 6-foot-2 1/2, 235 pounds has great size for a high school junior. But he also possesses 4.6 speed to go with that size. He has used that size and speed to become an impact player on both sides of the ball as a sophomore and a junior.
As a sophomore, Dawson had 160 tackles, 16 for loss. As a junior, he had 176 tackles, 23 for a loss, 2 interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries. Offensively he had 21 catches for 376 yards and four touchdowns. He carried the ball 43 times for 329 yards and two touchdowns.
"He can play linebacker or tight end in college. He's got great hands. He blocks well. Defensively he reads exceptionally well. He can get to the football," Larry French, Head Coach at Boyle County said.
"He's a strong individual. He moves really quickly to the football. He's got a knack for finding the ball. He's a good athlete. You put him on the field and he does something positive with the ball. If he's on defense he'll make the tackle or be around the tackle," said French.
Dawson will be one of the top players in Kentucky as a senior. Kentucky, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Louisville and Southern California have all expressed interest. Kentucky has offered Dawson a scholarship at this time.
