UK2K -- WIN # 2000!

LEXINGTON, Ky. - It had happened 1,999 times before, but winning never gets old, not even for the nation's all-time winningest program. That program, the University of Kentucky Wildcats, smashed Drexel tonight, 88-44 for win # 2000 in the storied program's history. Kentucky is the first--and only--program to ever achieve 2,000 wins.

The victory came easily behind the dual forces of forwards Patrick Patterson and Demarcus Cousins, who poured in 18 points each to lead the Wildcats. Confetti spilled onto the court as the game ended, and UK notables like Governor Steve Beshear and former head coach Joe B. Hall were in attendance.

"People have a pride in their Commonwealth's team and it means something to them," UK head coach John Calipari said. It took Kentucky 66 years to reach win # 1,000, and only 40 more years for 1,000 more.

Cousins led UK in scoring and rebounding, with 18 points and 13 rebounds, despite playing only 14 minutes in the game. Patterson matched Cousin's 18, and John Wall chipped in with 16. The No. 3 Kentucky Wildcats remained undefeated with the win, moving to 12-0 on the season.
