Harper and Heisman candidate CJ Spiller combined for 148 yards rushing for the Tigers. Derrick Locke rushed for 64 yards to lead Kentucky. Quarterback Morgan Newton finished the night 13-24 for 94 yards and one touchdown.
The Wildcats drew first blood on their opening possession. The Wildcats drove 61 yards on seven plays capped by a 17-yard pass from Newton to receiver Chris Matthews.
The key play of the game for Kentucky came at the 11:53 mark of the 4th quarter. Down just 14-13, the Newton dropped back to pass to McKaskill, who caught the ball, but fumbled on the Wildcat 19-yard line. Three plays later, the Tigers scored.
The Wildcats would not recover.
