With rumors abounding about the status of a couple of Kentucky's corner commitments, it's clear that Kentucky isn't willing to take chances on coming up short at that position. The Wildcats brought in Bryce Callahan for an official visit last weekend.

Bryce Callahan, a 5-foot-10, 170 corner from Cypress Woods High School (TX.) made an official visit to Kentucky and came away very impressed. "He liked it," said David Jones, head coach of Cypress Woods. "I think Kentucky's one of the final schools. From what he told me and what he expressed about the trip, he thinks it's a good place. That's on of his top choices," said Jones.

So what other schools are involved with Callahan?

"He got a lot of interest from a lot of people. Iowa State offered him early. Mississippi State, Rice, UTEP, Tulsa, Colorado, Miami University, but he's got good offers."

"He's got a coach from LSU trying to contact him. He goes to Rice this weekend. He took and official to Iowa State. He's got Mississippi State wanting him to visit too," said Jones. "I think he'll make a decision before then. I really think he'll narrow it down after this weekend," said Jones.

While Callahan is a smallish player, he draws great praise from his coach. "There's nothing he doesn't do well," said Jones. "He's a great player. He completely changes how people attack a defense. They throw away from him if they see him. When we hide him, he makes great plays," Jones continued.

"If he was 6-foot tall, I'd meet every coach in America. He's averaging 26 yards per return on punts. He's picked off seven or eight balls. He was our district MVP. We play in 5A. We're playing quality people and he stands out," said Jones.

Callahan stood out enough to make the 5A Associated Press Sports Editors First Team. Callahan accounted for 120 tackles (80 solo), six interceptions, 10 passes broken up and averaged 28 yards per punt return according to the report.
