Video: Eric Simmons

The 2010 recruiting class for Kentucky isn't short on defensive backs. There are as many as five players who could wind up playing safety or corner in the class. But one of the most physically imposing players in the class for his position is Eric Simmons.

The 2010 recruiting class for Kentucky isn't short on defensive backs. There are as many as five players who could wind up playing safety or corner in the class. But one of the most physically imposing players in the class for his position is Eric Simmons.

At 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, Simmons already has great size for a defensive back. But he's also got great speed as well with his 4.4 forty. "I'm good at covering," said Simmons. "I have good speed and I can come up and hit too," he said.

Simmons is relatively new to football, so he knows there are areas he can improve. "Probably my technique. I've just been playing football for two years," he said.

Kentucky got a commitment from the Westlake (Ga.) star back in mid October when Simmons took his official visit. "Everything about the visit stood out for me, from the academics, to the atmosphere," he said.

This season Simmons had 35 tackles, two interceptions, eight passes broken up and 1 fumble recovery for his 7-4 squad.

Take a look at Simmons for yourself.
