Gymnastic Cats fall to # 10 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The 12th-ranked University of Kentucky gymnastics team fell to No. 10 Arkansas 196.750-195.325, losing all four events Friday at Barnhill Arena.

Sophomore Whitney Rose (Frisco, Texas) shared vault title honors with Arkansas' Jaime Pisani, posting a 9.925 on the event. Junior Jasmine Minion (Memphis, Tenn.) set a career-high with a 9.875 on the vault to finish third. Arkansas won the event 49.250-49.050.

Senior Emily Green (Penefield, N.Y.) took second place on the beam at 9.875 behind Casey Jo Magee (9.900) of Arkansas. Senior Emilie Rymer (Medina, Ohio) tied Pisani of Arkansas for third with a 9.825. The Razorbacks took the event 49.100-48.600.

"I thought we should have received some higher scores from the judges honestly," UK head coach Mo Mitchell said. "But we have to put this behind us and work on improving our performances."

Junior Andrea Mitchell (Knoxville, Tenn.) led Kentucky on the bars with 9.775. Pisani and Magee of Arkansas tied for first place with a 9.875. Arkansas claimed the bars by a 49.175-48.700 margin.

Senior Hillary Ferguson (Richmond, Ky.) finished second on the floor exercise at 9.875 to Pisani (9.900) of Arkansas. The Razorbacks won the event 49.225-48.975. Minion posted a career-high on the floor with a 9.825.

Mitchell finished fourth among all-arounders with a 38.225. Pisani took title honors with a 39.525 tally.

Kentucky travels to Athens, Ga., next Friday, Feb. 5, to take on No. 8 Georgia. First rotations begin at 7 p.m. EST.
