At 6-foot-2, 194 pounds and running the forty in 4.47 seconds, it's pretty clear that you have a great athlete on your hands. Marcus Graham is that athlete. But while his numbers resemble that of a receiver or even a defensive back, Graham plays quarterback. At quarterback, Graham provides many assets.
"He's a great leader," said Maurice Douglass, head coach at Trotwood Madison. "He's been football captain the last two years, playing varsity. He has a great understanding of the game. his uncle Jeff played wide receiver in the NFL for 11 years. His father was starting cornerback for four years in college. He's just got a great knowledge base for the game," Douglass continued.
Graham isn't without his places for improvement, but he'll mostly be sharpening his skills. "He's got to work on how much touch to put on the ball and work on his accuracy. He's got good touch, but he wants to improve there some this year. That'll be the thing I look at the most. He's also going to work on his footwork," Douglass said.
While Graham hasn't received any high major offers yet, they could be coming soon. "He's got an offer from Bowling Green. I anticipate Toledo offering him soon as well. He went to Cincinnati's junior day this weekend. They want him as an athlete. I know they are looking at him in the slot or as a defensive back," said Douglass.
And what about the Kentucky Wildcats? "I think he's going down to Kentucky with me during their spring practice when I go to their coaches clinic. I know he's going to Ohio State for their spring practice too. He may go up to Michigan this weekend. It depends on if they have a basketball game or not," he finished.
As a junior Graham threw for around 1400 yards and 14 touchdowns. He ran for another 200 yards and six touchdowns.
"He led us to a 9-4 record this season. He did a great job of making changes at the line. He would check the secondary and make the change needed. We had a running back this year with about 2600 yards, so it was hard for him to have big passing numbers," said Douglass.
Graham will be a player to keep an eye on in the coming months.
