Kentucky in "good position" for Jeffrey

There were recent reports indicating that Shamir Jeffrey was nearing a college decision. The four-star athlete has Kentucky high on his list. What's the latest?

Kentucky needs a quarterback prospect in the 2011 class and Shamir Jeffrey appears to be one of the top targets. Scout.com has Jeffrey listed as a four-star wide receiver prospect, but Shamir is a good quarterback a well.

"Anything on the field that he does, he does it well," said Walt Wilson in an earlier interview with KSR. "He plays receiver second to none. We moved him to quarterback and in seven games he had 1800 yards passing," he continued.

"At quarterback he's pretty sound. He's just been playing there for a short time. But his fundamentals are so good. This kid can make every throw from the pocket. When you sprint him out, that's the cherry on top because he can pull it down and run with hit," said Wilson. "He would rather throw the ball. He always looks to pass. When everything else breaks down, then he'll run. We have to beg him to run sometimes," continued Wilson.

In the meantime, Jeffrey's spring visits have been stalled.

"No, he hasn't taken any visits this spring," said Wilson. "We just haven't gotten on the road yet," Wilson continued.

So what about the reports of an impending commitment? "We really don't talk much about that situation," said Wilson. "He's kind of mentioned that he's really intrigued about Kentucky."

Jeffrey holds offers from not only Kentucky, but West Virginia, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, East Carolina and South Carolina.

Even with those options available, the Wildcats look solid. "Kentucky is in good position, though," finished Wilson.
